Two friends recall their childhoods in Singapore, revisit their earlier films and perform a dance for which no recording remains. Their musings and archives are woven together in a meditation on how memories are not recovered, but composed anew.
Two longtime friends revisit their formative years as artists and their coming of age in Singapore. Piecing together footage accumulated over the years and reconstructing a dance for which no archive remains, they sit with failure, doubt and the creative possibilities that persist. Their thoughts turn towards the fraught question of where they belong: one traces a journey to his ancestral grave, the other reckons with the quiet erasure of her father’s citizenship.
Unfolding with the logic of a dance, the film shifts fluidly between past and present, Singapore and Japan. What emerges is a graceful, vulnerable meditation on memory as an act of composition.

Elysa Wendi is a filmmaker, dance artist and curator based between Hong Kong and Singapore. Her work spans documentary, audiovisual essay and choreographic ritual.
Liao Jiekai
Liao Jiekai is a filmmaker and artist based between Tokyo and Singapore, working across cinema and the visual arts. Elysa and Jiekai are the co-artistic directors of Cinemovement.
