When a freak accident threatens Anna’s image of a perfect family, the matriarch makes a Faustian deal that leads to a spiral of annihilation in this morality tale hinged on bourgeois anxieties.

Once an aspiring actress, Anna, now the matriarch of an enviable wealthy family, is ecstatic when she learns that her daughter Alice has been cast in a commercial. But tragedy soon strikes: Alice’s leg is nearly bitten off by a dog. To prevent her daughter from becoming a cripple, Anna strikes a deal with a mysterious woman, setting in motion a chain of deadly consequences. Twenty years later, Anna decides to tell her daughter the truth.

The Spiral is a morality thriller by one of Italy’s most promising horror filmmakers. In this Faustian tale, a woman’s ego and love for her children propel her into a whirlwind of bourgeois anxieties and entropy, powered by the inescapability of fate.
