The lives of three strangers from different segments of society intertwine after a tragic car crash in Mexico city: a young man who enters the feral world of dogfighting to make money in order to run away with his brother’s wife. A supermodel whose life has been derailed by the crash and is struggling to find her dog that has disappeared into her apartment floorboard. And an aging hitman who lives with a pack of stray dogs and is desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
Iñárritu’s unflinching feature debut, like a rabid mongrel, latches onto these characters as they seek reprieve from their respective circumstances. Amid the messy cycles of violence in a relentlessly harsh city marked by segregation, they struggle to find human connection.

Alejandro González Iñárritu is a Mexican filmmaker known for his psychological dramas with interconnected stories that explore the human condition. His notable works include 21 Grams (2003), Babel (2006), Birdman (2014) and The Revenant (2015). Premiering at Cannes, Iñárritu’s debut film Amores Perros catapulted himself and actor Gael García Bernal to international acclaim. The restored version of the film premiered at Cannes Classics in 2025.
