Forcibly separated from her premature twins in a hospital at the start of the Gaza war, a mother juggles between raising four small children, attempting to reunite with her babies, and survival in the midst of a brutal siege.
After one of her triplets dies at birth, Rania loses contact with her surviving infants Jowan and Hamoud when they are evacuated to the south of Gaza. Stuck in the north, Rania enlists her family to take the twins in after identifying them on social media. As the cost of essential goods skyrockets and medical supplies are withheld, Hamoud begins to show signs of long-term illness while his mother seeks opportunities to bring them home.
Unfolding over 16 months, this documentary portrays a mother’s longing for her children, against the devastation wreaked upon a city. In the unrelenting genocide of Palestinians, Gaza’s Twins shows that even survival may be little comfort as civilians contend with the crippling effects of trauma and untreated medical conditions.
