In this science-fiction, fantasy, romance and wuxia mashup, the fairy maiden Chang’e embarks on a journey to the moon to find her missing lover and is joined by a bandit from earth.
The legendary archer Hou Yi goes missing during a mission to save a dying sun. This prompts his lover, the fairy maiden Chang’e, to embark on a dangerous journey to find him on the dark side of the moon. Along the way, she encounters strange figures, including a bandit from earth who accompanies her on her quest. Their journey leads them to Peng Meng, who has come in search of Chang’e’s last remaining elixir of immortality.
In a genre-defying mix of science-fiction, fantasy, romance and wuxia, The House on the Moon takes on the timeless Chinese legend of Chang’e and Hou Yi and transforms it into a bold, inventive spectacle. Billed as Singapore’s first-ever feature-length wuxia film and the country’s first feature produced using virtual production technology, Nelson Yeo’s highly anticipated sophomore effort challenges expectations of its source material, taking Singaporean cinema to exciting new heights.
