A visionary filmmaker renowned for his bold and inventive approach to storytelling, Lou Ye is a leading figure in contemporary Chinese cinema, with his films garnering international acclaim at prestigious festivals such as Cannes and Venice. His works, including Suzhou River (2000), Summer Palace (2006) and The Shadow Play (2018), explore profound themes of desire and longing in a society marked by continuous flux.

Hailed as a key figure of the Sixth Generation of Chinese filmmakers, Lou is celebrated for his incisive observations of the zeitgeist of his times. With a career spanning over three decades, he returns with his latest feature, An Unfinished Film—fittingly titled for a director whose journey is far from complete. Join us in an open conversation as Lou Ye reflects on his practice and the future of cinema.

Eva Tang graduated from The National Film and Television School (UK). Her student short film While You Sleep was officially selected by Venice Film Festival. Her debut Chinese-language documentary The Songs We Sang was the highest-grossing Singapore documentary. It was selected by Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in 2016, and was the top ten films raved by China popular film reviewer 桃桃淘电影. The Songs We Sang and her commissioned documentary From Victoria Street To Ang Mo Kio are both on Netflix.
