Join the conversation with Shim Eun-kyung, an acclaimed South Korean actress who has built a distinctive, boundary-crossing career in both South Korea and Japan.

Beginning her career at age nine as one of Korean television’s most prominent child actors, Shim earned the Best Actress award at the Baeksang Arts Awards for her starring role in Miss Granny (2014). After expanding her work to Japan, she made history as the first Korean actor to win Best Actress at the Japan Academy Film Prize for The Journalist (2019). Her acclaimed performance in Two Seasons, Two Strangers (2025)—which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival—further earned her Best Actress at Japan’s Kinema Junpo Best Ten Awards.

In this exclusive dialogue session, Shim will share insights into her evolution as a performer working across borders and languages, and how she continues to forge a singular path as a generation-defining actress.
