This Aggregate of Images that is the Universe (STARS)

World Premiere

Drawing on archival photographic plates from Harvard’s Institute of Astronomy, this film traces early attempts at systematically classifying the observable universe. It explores what this colonial endeavour rendered invisible – including the often feminine labour behind manually mapping the stars – in their privileging of what is visible.
