Ugo Bienvenu France 2025 82 min PG
Ten-year-old Arco accidentally time travels from the year 2932 to 2075, where he is befriended by a lonely girl raised by a robot.
This film screening is jointly presented by SGIFF with the vOilah! French Film Festival, and is supported by the Institut Français and the Embassy of France in Singapore (Ambassade de France à Singapour).
Ten-year-old Arco and his loving family live in the year 2932. Too impatient to wait until the legal minimum age of 12, he pilfers a rainbow suit to time travel while his family is sound asleep, and unknowingly crash-lands in the year 2075. He meets and befriends Iris, a precocious and lonely girl cared for by a robot while her parents work in the city. Having lost the gemstone required to travel back home and with an eccentric trio in hot pursuit, Arco must work with Iris to find his way back home. Together, with the help of Iris’s robot caretaker, Mikki, they embark on an adventure navigating the environmental challenges of Iris’s world.
Rendered in classic 2D animation and complemented by a soaring score, Arco is a heartwarming tale of friendship and adventure that takes on timely themes: loneliness, the climate crisis, human dependence on technology, the potential of technology weaved in with nature, and what it means to care for one another across species, space and time.
