On the cusp of adulthood, a pair of fraternal twins with a telepathic connection grow apart when they meet an alluring new teacher.

Abandoned by their father and bullied by classmates, twins Amir and Ali rely on each other for strength and support. Shy, brilliant Amir speaks a private language that only the fiercely protective Ali can interpret. Their bond seems unbreakable, until a new teacher arrives in their small coastal village. Full of unsettling charm and cultural sophistication, she connects with them in ways that expand their world while sparking a rivalry between them.

Inspired by the director’s lived experience as a twin, this coming-of-age tale plumbs the depths of brotherly love, grief and jealousy. Echoing the tempo of life by the sea, The Fox King unfolds as a study in how the self is anchored by relationships and unmoored by loss.
