When the Sun is Eaten (Chi’bal K’iin)

Southeast Asian Premiere

Kevin Jerome Everson US 2025 36 min Exemptible

On April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse was captured simultaneously on grainy film stock by Everson in collaboration with cinematographers in three cities – one in Mexico, another in Illinois and the last in Ohio. By centring our gaze on the absent sun, the film foregrounds our desire for meaning in the absence of enlightenment.
